    • East Africa Arts

    East Africa Arts is a British Council programme, connecting contemporary British and East African artists through grants, opportunities and projects across: Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and the UK.

    I’ve been having the pleasure, challenge and opportunity of taking this programme on since its birth and working with an inspiring team across 8 countries to see where we can fly with it.

    So far we’ve:

    • Commissioned 16 major new artworks by artists, organisations, and arts collectives;
    • Founded a Mobility Travel Grant for East African creatives to meet and create new connections;
    • Curated film festivals for the EU across 7 countries, reaching thousands of audiences;
    • Delivered over 30 skills training workshops; networking sessions; and fashion shoots; attended by over 200 artists;
    • Showcased new art to tens of thousands of audiences through a focus on British and East African festivals.

     

    It’s been quite the blast.
